Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Review

On June 7, 2023 the Escondido City Council approved the 2023-2028 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). This document outlines data and community feedback about the City's economy and outlines a five-year plan to improve the local economy.

Let's dive into the first section of the CEDS which takes a deep look at the City's Economic Data:

The labor force is defined as the sum of all people over the age of 16 in a given area who are either currently employed or unemployed and seeking work. It does not include those who are not working by choice, disability, or other restrictions. Nor does it include the military, those in prison, or otherwise institutionalized. The earnings charts, however, are not for the entire labor force. Rather, they exclude part-time and seasonal workers, showing earnings for fulltime, year-round workers only.

FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATES:

On August 1, OES Strike Team 6848C, with Strike Team Leaders Chief Matthews and Chief Salazar, and the crew of Brush Engine 8334, were released from the Bonny Fire and returned home safely. Captain Tony Teague, who conducted a lot of very steep foot patrols in the most difficult to access areas of the fire, also returned home on August 2. Thank you, Escondido Fire crews, for your hard work and dedication to support your fellow brothers and sisters in the field.

Also, on August 1, Fire Station 2 crews participated in the 39th Annual National Night Out Against Crime, hosted by the Escondido Police Department. National Night Out is an opportunity for citizens across America to send a powerful message about the importance of neighborhood unity, awareness, safety and police-community partnerships. Firefighters handed out hats, stickers, and gave tours of the fire engine to people of all ages.
