Fitness Court Mural Survey

In 2019, the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) awarded the City a $150,000 grant toward the purchase and installation of five Fitness Courts throughout the community. In November 2020, the City of Escondido unveiled the first fitness court located in Mountain View Park .

The next two courts will be located at Kit Carson Park and at the Library. These courts will incorporate a public art component and we'd like your input!

We solicited mural proposals for the next two courts, and received 30 submissions from 9 artists in our community. The initial review team included staff from various City departments, experts from the National Fitness Campaign, and the Public Art Commission. The review team has narrowed down the selection to the top four submissions (two for each location)

Now we need your help with the final selection! Take the survey here .

Kit Carson Park Scoreboard Dedication

On August 10, Mayor McNamara presented the Berryman family with a Certificate of Recognition, and proclaimed August 10 as William and Jessie Berryman Day, recognizing them for their generous donation of two digital scoreboards. These scoreboards are located on the Escondido Youth Baseball fields in Kit Carson Park. Mrs. Berryman reached out to the Community Services Department with the idea of donating a scoreboard in honor of her husband, William, who is currently in hospice care. The family wanted to memorialize their husband and father with something that would benefit the baseball community here in Escondido. Mr. Berryman was an avid baseball player, and even played professionally in the 1950's. He remained involved with the sport throughout the years, and currently has grandchildren that play in the league. The donation of these scoreboards will benefit all of the children that play, and will play, on our fields for years to come. We are so grateful to be the recipients of this incredible gift.
